И можно допустить, что это сходство не случайно.

Не имеет. Скорее всего, связано с иранским Исфахан.

Такого слова в баскском нет. Есть ezpain "край, губа".

я знаю, но из цитаты слов не выкинешь. а версию с баскским происхождением слова по-моему вообще нельзя серьёзно рассматривать
