I've recently discovered "the shit", which means very good, opposed to shit.
Couldn't you provide an example?
the shit
Quote
The best. This word is very interesting. The important part of it is without THE, an entirely different meaning applies. My teacher is shit= bad teacher. My teacher is THE shit = greatest teacher
 My car is the SHIT

I can't believe there's no topic here for this very popular language :)

Well, I think that's part of the problem, since there's an actual section of the forum that is dedicated to the language.

Regardless, post in English; I will correct your mistakes.

Super!  ;up:

Do you folks still tend to use amn’t /’æmənt/ there in the US? :)

Southern drawl?
Drawl is the accent. These are words or expressions used in the South, not the same thing.

How about all y'alls addressing a group of 3 or more?  ;)

How it's different from "all of you"?

How it's different from "all of you"?
"You all" - it is an appeal. "All of you" - is a listing, a naming. I think so.

I was trying to understand why a character's name is used with the definite article.
It turns out there is a special website exactly for this question: http://theleewit.com/

Yepp, like "my greetings to all y'alls", why not?.. Or is it kinda posessive form like "all those ya'll's bikes" etc.?

Hey, guys! I have a question about some sort of an odd idiomatic pattern I came across today when reading Glen Cook's "Dreams of steal". It reads:
"I hurried. Enemy patrols would be out looking for important bodies come first light".
I generally understand what the "come" thing means here. But I'd like to see more samples where the construction works with this verb or others in order to learn how to use it freely. How is this grammatical topic called? Could you please give me a link where such sentences are broken down, discussed, reviewed? Or do it yourself if possible. Thanks for your attention!

(wikt/en) come#Preposition
Quote from: Wiktionary
Preposition
come
Used to indicate a point in time at or after which a stated event or situation occurs.
Leave it to settle for about three months and, come Christmas time, you'll have a delicious concoction to offer your guests.
Come retirement, their Social Security may turn out to be a lot less than they counted on.
Come summer, we would all head off to the coast.
    Usage notes
Came is sometimes used instead when the events occurred in the past.

That's what Lingvo says about 'come' as a preposition:
Quote
с наступлением, с приходом (момента)
... but come summer, the beaches would be lined with rows of tents. — ... но когда наступит лето, на пляжах появится множество навесов.
