Не могу найти этимологию слова нямать (ср. лтш. ņammāt "есть, кушать..."). Нямать, по моему, не плохо подходит для роли итератива от *nemti "брать, хапать..." (ср. лтш. ņemt с тем же значением).
Ср. лтш. vest "вести" : vadāt "водить"

Тиспок, это производное от междометия ням, воспрозводящего звук, который человек издаёт во время жевания вкусной еды.

И корни *nem- : "(j)em- могут иметь звукоподражательную этимологию (типа, <*ям, *ням).
