Why is it so usual for the Russians (those who study English) to pronounce "hotel" with the stress on the first syllable?

Because English words have accentuated a first syllable of the word stem customary as a rule.
The Eagles in "Hotel California" pronounce it with the stress on the first syllable too. lol. :)

It's a song, for God's sake! Never try to apply the pronounciation of songs to the normal speech.
