Какие словари подтверждают такое значение?

Вообще, у корня 2 основных значения: обвинять и давать( дарить).
righteous как-то ни одному из них не очень близко.

It's not science, but a manipulation to achieve a desired result. Similar methods could be employed to demonstrate that Magna Carta was originally composed in Mongolian!
