I know it can be be word from althaic or yakut language.
It is my surname.
I am from Poland and here it is not popular surname and this word have no meaning in popular language.

As faras I know there is a word KURNAZ in turkish language.The meaning is sly, cunning man
maybe karnas has some roots from here..has changed somehow...

It could be from corn, carna-, etc. In other words, the meaning is "carnated" with suffix-s, "carna-s".
One of the most ancient words, probably common for neanderthals and first cromagnons.
This is the first and simplest conclusion I come to having looked at your surname.
