DATA ANNOTATOR (part time, ongoing)

The Butler Hill Group (www.butlerhill.com), a virtual computational linguistics consulting company based in the United States, is a streamlined network of language experts, including computational linguists, computer scientists, and language and web search experts with expertise in the natural language issues of computer technology.

The Butler Hill Group has an immediate need for Russian Data Annotators to review and evaluate internet search results, in the Russian language, based on specific search terms and provide either a favorable or unfavorable rating depending on the relevance of the result to the search term.  The evaluation work is done according to specific guidelines using an automated tool. This is a remote freelance position.

Candidates must be native Russian speakers, living in Russia. Ideal candidates possess a strong familiarity with a wide variety of online news sources published in Russia for the Russian language market and are avid Internet enthusiasts.  This is a free-lance, contract position requiring that annotators work from a home office on a personal computer (high-speed DSL or cable and a recent version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office proficiency are required).

Data annotators will work 4 hours per day, Monday–Friday.  This is an ongoing project, requiring a continuing commitment to part-time work (20 hours per week) that may extend to approximately the middle of 2010.  We offer a competitive hourly rate paid as self-employment income ($10-$12/hr).

Qualifications
•   Proven track record in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
•   Excellent communication skills
•   High-level reading comprehension skills
•   Detail-oriented and organized with strong time management skills
•   Background or interest in Internet research, fact-checking, internet technology and/or communications
•   Familiar with current cultural, political, business and media affairs in Russia
•   Analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, ability to conceptualize and analyze information
•   Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office application, especially MS Word and MS Excel
•   Minimum two years of college or equivalent work experience preferred
