Aram, Syria, Babylon and Chaldea As we see in the text which is in this picture; the Assyrians did call what is known today by SYRIA as mar-tu which designates the Amorites (Amuru not aramu) while they called the people of KHATI by Ara-mu according to the famous archeologist and historian George Smith, we see here that he translated mar-tu from cuneiform into Syria, while Ara-mu into Aram, so both are different since Ashur banipal speaks about two different cities .
on the other hand we see that kal-du is Chaldea not Babylon While Bab-ilu is Babylon
thus the glory of and weight of Babel, and what is meant when talking about Babel is not related in anyway with Chaldea or the chaldeans who occupied Babel ; rather concerns only Babel.
while chaldeans were in fact strangers from babel and Assyria (mostly a mix of Bedouin Arab tribes and Arameans).
and this opinion regarding Chaldea is supported also by the famous Egyptologist and Assyriologist Gaston Maspero
