Hello everyone.
1. Past simple or past continuous
Sorry. I didn't realise you spoke to me. What were you saying?
While we were walking by the river yesterday, we saw a wonderful sunset.
I wasn't listening to Kate and Rachel's conversation but then suddenly I heard my name.
My sister and I didn't like my aunt when we were little. She wasn't very nice for us.

2. Present simple, present continuous, past simple or past continuous
What have you put in my burger? It tastes absolutely disgusting.
It's a great jacket, I know, but unfortunately it isn't belonging to me. I was just borrowing it for the party this evening.
Why are you wearing that thin dress? You'll freeze to death in this cold wind!
Look! Are you seeing that man standing beside the till? I think he is planning to steal something.
Tea or coffee? I am making both, so just say which you prefer.

I am just borrowing it или I just borrowed it, потому что this evening.

She wasn't very nice for us.
Должно быть nice to us.

I am just borrowing и таким
Sorry. I didn't realise you were speaking to me. What did you say?

On Saturday we swam for half an hour in the sea before breakfast. Почему не were swimming?
When Jack phoned Amy she drove to the airport right away to meet him. Почему не were driving?

What did you say и what were you saying - оба правильные; второе чаще говорят, когда пропустили заметную часть сказанного, но они часто взаимозаменяемы

"Sorry. I didn't realise you were speaking to me. What did you say?"
I realized you were busy speaking (continuous), but wasn't paying attention, so didn't realize it was me you were speaking to (ongoing activity). Now you've finished speaking (and I've started speaking), I have realized it was me you were (continuously) speaking to, and want to know what it was you said (completed) before I started.

"On Saturday we swam for half an hour in the sea before breakfast."
It narrates a completed action with a definite duration (half an hour) at a fixed point in the past (before breakfast), rather than how we spent our time, or the background to some other event that took place (in the past simple) while we were swimming.

"When Jack phoned Amy she drove to the airport right away to meet him."
This one narrates a sequence of completed actions: Jack phoned, then Amy drove to the airport. One alternative is "Jack phoned while Amy was driving" (but why would she be driving to the airport if Jack hadn't already phoned?), otherwise I can't easily see how the continuous is possible here.

Something like that.
